Losing my job

After 10 years on the job, I was unexpectedly laid off. I was shocked. I knew some cutbacks were being made. But I never expected it to happen to me. I had seniority and believed I was indispensible. I learned later that the deciding factor between laying off me or another person was the number of times I had come in late and called in sick. I thought it was totally unfair and wanted to protest. But with my 401K, I walked away with a severance package amounting to $80,000.
