One year for Halloween I thought it would be fun and economical to make the costume for my son to wear trick or treating. I made the mistake, though, of thinking I could sew, which I couldn't. I thought it would be easy, and I could do it no problem. I just wasn't born with the sewing gene, I suppose. In the end, we made a mask out of black cardboard, bought a cape, and dressed him in black so that he could be his favorite superhero. And you know what, I think he was happier than if we would have bought him something. Or at least I hoped so.
