Promotion to Head Chef

The day I got my promotion was so nerve racking. I wasn't even sure if I was going to get it, as they had recently hired on someone with more experience then I had.

I had been working for that particular kitchen for 4 years by then, and I had hoped that some of my seniority would help them pick me. When my boss came out of the office that day and into the kitchen, he had such a glum look on his face, that I was sure he was going to give me bad news. It was all a cruel joke though, as he gave me the good news, I could see the smile taking over his face, and I slapped him in excitement.
