Moment of Madness

My husband was at work, and I was admiring my flower garden while waiting for our puppy, Sandy, to do her business. She spotted some neighbors walking down the street and went running out to greet them just as I heard the warning whistle of the oncoming train. Sandy stopped and looked in the direction of the noise for a moment as I frantically screamed her name. She glanced back at me, then forward at my neighbors before dashing across the tracks just a moment too late.
