What Does Your Dad do?

It was 4th grade, and time for career day. Neither my mom nor my dad could make it into my class to help me with my career day project, and I was the only kid without a parent there. It felt lonely, and my little 11 heart was broken.

When they asked me what my mom did, I told them she was a nurse. When they asked me what my dad did, I told them that he drinks. My teacher and the other kids laughed, because they said that drinking was not a job. I felt so terrible, I didn't know what to do, and so I ran from the class and back to my home and cried until my mom got back.
