Special Attention

I had always had my head buried in the books. He took me by surprise when he started talking to me that one day in class, standing next to my desk. I barely looked up at first as I assumed he was talking to somebody else. I shyly smiled up at him and started talking slowly, answering his questions as I felt so nervous. I felt like my voice was shaking with each word, and when it was over and he walked away I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. He was the first boy to ever really look at me, to ever look at me like that, and I felt so amazingly happy. I wanted to skip across the classroom but I sat there at my desk, feeling so content and so alive.
