Graduation day was cold and cloudy adding to my gloomy mood. I'd partied with my classmates late last night, but stumbled home when they started bragging about their college plans. I was one of about five people from our class that would stay in town and had no real future plan. I put the royal blue gown on over my shorts and t-shirt, slipped my flip-flops on and headed to the football field.
After three sappy songs, and two supposedly inspiring speeches, I walked across the impromptu stage and shook hands with the school officials who'd probably celebrate my departure later tonight. I posed for a few pictures with family and friends afterwards, then headed home for a much needed nap.
