Scary Surgery

I felt a wave of calm rush over me as I knew that everything was going to be okay. I knew that having his tonsils out was the right thing and that it was perfectly normal, but it was still hard to see his little body lying in that bed, the blue hospital gown floating around him. He looked up at me with those big green eyes and tried to muster a smile. I held his hand tightly as we told him what would happen and how when he woke up he could eat all the ice cream he wanted. We stayed with him as they wheeled him down the hall and my heart skipped a beat as I had to kiss him goodbye and hold him close as they took him through the big brown doors to the operating room. Now came the wait and I wouldn't breathe easy until I could see him resting on the other side.
