Rebel

By the time my little brother graduated college, I had spent a year enjoying the city. He told me secretly that he didn't want to go into the army, which didn't bother me, but I knew it would bother my dad. The day my dad found out is hard to forget, and makes me glad I signed up right after graduation.

'What do you mean you didn't enlist?' Said my father in a stern voice.

'Just what I said Dad, I didn't enlist. I don't want to get into the army, or anything like it.' Said my brother Dylan bravely, 'I want to go to college and become a director, not waste my life learning to salute.'

The rest of the night was like an angry fireworks display, and at the end of the night, my dad had thrown Dylan's stuff out the front door, even though my mom pleaded with him not to.
