Parting as Friends

He took the news well. Neither of us were really happy anyways. We sat at an outdoor cafe sipping mimosas and instead of skirting the issue, I just told him I wanted a divorce. Relief swept over his face like a wave, and I sighed, sad, but content with his reaction. The waitress didn't sense the seriousness of the moment, cuz she cut right in and asked if we wanted dessert sending us both into a fit of nervous laughter.
