Oh the Heartbreak

I knew something was wrong when he asked me to meet him. He sounded strange on the phone and asked if I could meet him at the park, a strange request for a Wednesday night. As I approached him on the bench he didn't even look like himself, my heart sank as I feared the words that were about to come out of his mouth. He paused for what seemed like forever and then looked at me with tears in his eyes. He said that he didn't think that we should be together and that he really wanted to be with somebody else. It was like a small dagger that he drove into my heart. I was stunned and couldn't even utter a word, I just sat there with my mouth wide open. I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry, I wanted to beg him to stay...but instead I just sat there without emotion until I realized what had just happened. I ran out of the park as the tears streamed down my face, knowing that this moment would change me forever.
