My wedding

David and I got married in my hometown church-a beautiful, old Ukrainian Orthodox church. I had five bridesmaids and a flower girl. The choir sang as I walked down the aisle in my beautiful white gown with a flowing veil.

As I walked arm in arm with my father, I could feel him trembling. But I was as calm as could be, especially when I saw David standing up front beaming at me.

The ceremony was long but beautiful. The choir continued singing as the priest held two golden crowns over our heads and joined us in marriage.

At the end of the ceremony, we released white doves that circled the crowd. Then we watched them fly off into the distance.
