My 40th birthday

Some friends threw me a 40th birthday party. I was happy but sad. Most of them were married or engaged, and they kept teasing me about not having landed anyone yet. They made me feel like something was wrong with me. Oh, they had mentioned it before. But this was the first time they all ganged up on me. They were laughing about it and didn't realize how much they had hurt me. Their comments that were made in fun really stung.
