Mother's Day

We had no money to buy her anything, but wanted desperately to show her how appreciated she was. She went to the field to begin weeding, and I held my brothers and sisters back, telling her we'd follow shortly.

Once she was out of sight, my sister began sweeping the clumps of dirt on the dusty floor into a pile, and my brother dumped the bathroom can, and took it out to the stream to clean. Then our hunt for wildflowers began. We carefully climbed rocks and reached between cacti to create the perfect bouquet. Mama was steaming when we finally showed up to help her with the weeding, but all was forgiven when she got home and delighted in her clean dirt floors and wilting surprise.
