Mom gets in an accident

One day at school my teacher got a call over the P.A. system asking me to go to the office. When I got down there, the principal told me that my mom had been in a car crash and my dad was coming to pick me up. I was in tears as we went down to the hospital and found my mom in a bed, very groggy from pain meds. Apparently someone had rear-ended her and she had bad pains in her back and neck for months after that. We sued and got some money from the insurance agency which allowed us buy a new car. My mom and dad still drive that same car, thirty years later.
