Nothing can prepare you for some shocks in life. Like finding out you're adopted. I don't know if there is a good way to tell a 17-year-old, but my parents chose a very bad way. We were sitting around the table having peas and chicken, and out of the clear blue, my father says, "So your mother and I have been talking, and we have decided it is time to tell you that you were adopted when you were one." My jaw literally hit the floor. I asked them to prove it, because I thought they were joking with me, so dad went and got the papers. I was so shocked I couldn't even cry, but that night I started thinking about things, and it made a lot of sense. One day I hope I get to meet my real mom and dad.
