Gone Too Soon

My best friend was competing in a cross country meet when she dropped dead on the high school track. There was little explanation as to why, just mention of undiagnosed heart condition. I didn't get to see her at all that day, I had come to school late from a dentist appointment and missed the one class we had together. I spread all my yearbooks and pictures across my bed that night, trying desperately to remember her voice, personality, and smile. I had just seen her in school the day before, but I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to remember her for some reason.
