Firstborn

I was delivering heaping platters of fried fish to hungry customers when my water broke. I frantically dialed home, hoping my husband would answer. The first contraction came shortly after and took my breath away. Harry, the cook's assistant, offered to drive me to the hospital. The next sixteen hours were riddled with intense pain until I looked into the eyes of a beautiful baby boy and forgot it all.
