First Heartbreak

We started dating my sophomore year and we were the couple in school that everyone wanted to be like. I loved her and had shared so much with her through the years of high school. She was my first and for that, she would always be special to me. I drew back from her and stared at her angelic face in the moonlight. She couldn't mean it, did I hear her right? She thought we should break it off. I knew it was the best thing since we were going to different colleges in the fall, but it was still not what I wanted to hear. She was just weeping as I held her close and shut my eyes, holding onto that last moment with her before we went our separate ways. My heart broke as I stood there in the silence.
