Everyone's friend but nobody's girlfriend

By this time, I was used to being overweight. I had lots of friends-boys and girls. But I was never a boy's "girlfriend." While other kids were going out on couples' group dates, I stayed home and had to listen to their escapades the next day. I convinced myself that I'd never be anyone's "girlfriend."
