I felt something strange. It wasn't physical; it was more like a little pain in the back of my stomach. It made me want to head for the bathroom, and get out of the open kitchen. When I made it to the hallway, that's when everything around me started violently shaking. The pictures on the walls started crashing onto the floor, and I ran to stand in the bathroom doorway as several pieces of drywall from the ceiling crumbled.
It took a moment in all the panic, to realize what was happening. It was an earthquake. It was a miracle that I had decided to stand in that particular doorway, as all the others had cracked, and several pieces of the ceiling fell out. When the shaking stopped and I realized it was all over, I just stand down in the doorway, not sure if I should've moved.
