It was our family tradition and I looked forward to it each week. Every Sunday night after we had finished our dinner, my dad would make a big fire in the fireplace. We'd sit around together and eat dessert that mom had lovingly prepared and then just sit there, staring at the fire and chatting with each other. It somehow relaxed us and eased us into the week ahead when nobody wanted to go back to school or work; it was just a nice way to end the weekend. It was so simple but so calming and we looked forward to it each and every week, we never missed our big crackling fire for any reason and I loved that.
