Another One Bites the Dust

I sat uncomfortably on my friend's couch. She was gushing over how amazing this tiny little creature was and how she had never felt like this in her life. I had heard this before as I realized that I had lost another friend forever. She was now part of the mom club and I wasn't planning on joining that group for awhile if ever. I allowed myself to drown out her voice and let my mind wander to another place. She didn't even seem to notice that I wasn't listening as I looked down at this tiny baby sleeping, wondering how it had instantly changed my friend. I was certain I would never understand as I turned down her offer to hold the little thing. I just wasn't feeling it and I could see the look of disappointment as my friend's face sunk.
