Another broken heart

I was dating a wonderful man who used to date one of my girlfriends. He lived in Houston but came to Austin nearly every weekend because he kept a boat on the lake. On the weekends, he'd stay with me. During the week, we'd talk nearly every day on the phone. One day, when he called me at work, we chatted as usual. We were making plans for the 4th of July. He said he had to tell me something important. I thought he was going to say he loved me. But instead, he told me he had gotten back together with his girlfriend and that they had decided to get married. They had been taking a break from each other when he met me. It was like sticking a knife through my heart.
