My grandmother got an idea one Thanksgiving that she wanted to get pictures done with just "us girls." That is, her, my mom, and me. We got into our nicest clothes, like we were going to go to church, and drove down to Sears where the photography studio was. The photographer put us against all kinds of backgrounds and made us stand in all these poses. At first I hated it, wishing I could be at home playing, or just about anywhere else, but when it was all done and we got to look at the pictures, I saw how happy we all looked and I suddenly got really sad, realizing my grandmother and mom would be dead one day, and I would be glad I had that picture. It was a powerful moment.
